Literature Text

He's just counting stars to fall asleep,
From a dark corner in this alleyway,
Where ideals become surreal,
Leaving no one but him to pay,

He's counting flames,
Not just the burns,
Not just the matches,
Tired of the games,
Ashes for urns,
Deadliest catches,

Reverberations from the lights,
Shining bright in these dark nights,
Who truly won those fights,
I don't truly know...but it was not I...

It's true, his heart beats just a little harder,
His candle is burning just a little bit faster,
His words just a little bit sharper,
His thoughts just a little bit deeper,
His falls just a little bit steeper,

Even the most terrible art has an appreciator,
All it takes is one bid to make him priceless,
Success is a ladder but failure is an elevator,
Regardless he tips the same,
Though he knows the clerk by name,

I'm over-rated, jaded, and my glory has faded,
Every dog has his day... And when I close my eyes...
I can still hear the ocean... Just the same as back then...

...I wish every day could be like this...
Yet another sleepless night...
